We're studying the Old Kingdom of Egypt (3000-2100 BCE). I love the concept of narrating! Not only did they tell me about ancient Egypt and the story of Osiris and Set, I got to hear them re-tell the story to their cousin today as they made their pharaoh's headdresses.
There are so many resources on ancient Egypt, it's tough to keep focused and on schedule. I'm choosing to plow ahead at this point because I *know* that we have additional chapters on Egypt ahead. Plus, I have a feeling we'll slow down when we come to Roman and Greek history. (Those are one of Charlie's interest.)
Their cousins are getting ready for parent-teacher conferences. I told my sister, "We had our parent-teacher conferences. They went well." At the moment, we're on schedule and things are good. We've seen both girls' reading skills improve exponentially. The "inconveniences" of homeschooling can't compare to the benefits!
